The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity (June 15-20) has announced that a total of 26,900 submissions have been received into the 2025 Awards, reflecting strong global participation across the breadth of the creative industries. All pieces of work will now compete to set the global benchmark for excellence in creativity and effectiveness for the year ahead.

In May 1875, Max Oettinger opened a tobacconist store at Eisengasse 9 in Basel, thus laying the foundations for today's Oettinger Davidoff AG. The family-owned company, which now operates all over the world, celebrates in 2025 its 150th anniversary. The highly anticipated American film will be presented Out of Competition at the Grand Théâtre Lumière. On Wednesday, May 14, actor and producer Tom Cruise, his long-time collaborator, director and screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie, and the cast will walk the steps of the Palais des Festivals. This is only the Hollywood legend’s third appearance on the Croisette: the first in 1992, for the premiere of Ron Howard’s Far and Away, a few years went by before Tom Cruise’s memorable return in 2022, marked by the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick, his gripping masterclass and the emotional reception of his honorary Palme d’or.
